Will you choose the pleasures of sin over the truths of Christ?

The Loser’s Plan
By Faith

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 11:24-28

Key Verse: Hebrews 11:25

He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.

The loser’s plan in God’s kingdom world is centered on the word faith.  Hebrews 11:1 gives us a clear definition of that key word: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”  When we decide that we are going to become one of God’s “biggest losers” it will be by faith.  The rest of our life will be lived by faith.  Remember the verse that is the foundation of this month’s series: “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it” (Mark 8:35).  Being the biggest loser will end up making us the biggest winner!

Our scripture passage for today’s devotional is about Moses.  He was living in the lap of luxury as the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter.  Yet he chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.  That is the decision Christ followers must make almost every day.  Will you choose the pleasures of sin over the truths of Christ?  It will help if you remember the last phrase: for a short time.  The pleasures of sin are real but not lasting.  The rewards of faithfulness to Christ are real and lasting!  Determine to stick to the plan—the loser’s plan.  You will rejoice over that decision throughout eternity.

Father, I choose you over the worlds’ pleasures.  No pleasures of this world compare to the glories awaiting your children.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
