The Biggest Loser in God’s Kingdom signed up for the test of their endurance

The Loser’s Plan
If We Endure – Part 1

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 2:11-13

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 2:12

if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us

The contestants on the TV show “The Biggest Loser” have coaches that help them lose the weight.  These coaches may know a great plan, but they can’t do the plan for the contestants.  Each contestant must decide how badly they want to lose weight.

In our journey with God, there is a plan.  This plan is often like losing weight: Hard.  Paul is writing Timothy a letter in our scripture for today to remind us of the plan.  He uses words like “endure” and “die” and “faithful.”  The plan works, and if we work the plan we will live eternally with God.  However, we have been given free moral agency, thus we can reject the plan as well.  The apostle writes: “If we disown Him, He will also disown us.”  Paul is quoting Jesus Himself: “But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven” (Matthew 10:33).  Peter disowned Jesus with his words out of fear for his life, though he thoroughly believed in his heart in Jesus.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that this walk with God takes endurance.  The Biggest Loser contestants signed up for the test of their endurance.  When you accepted Jesus, did you understand that it would take endurance to finish your life in Christ?  (Continued)

Father, I will commit my time and energy to faithfully enduring the hardship that may come as I walk with you.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
