Embrace Jesus’ divinity by walking in faith today

Embrace His Life on Earth
His Divinity – Part 2

Scripture Reading: John 14:9-14

Key Verse: John 14:10

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Continuing from yesterday’s devotional, we see Jesus pointing Philip to Jesus’ miracles as evidence of His divinity.  Jesus was in essence saying: “Philip, base your faith on the facts.”  Philip was eye witness to the many miracles that Jesus did.  Philip undoubtedly was in the boat when Jesus came walking on the water.  When the blind could see; when the lame could walk; when the dead came back to life—Philip saw it all.  Yet, somehow Philip had missed the message in the miracles: Jesus was God, the second person of the Holy Trinity!

Don’t miss this aspect of the message.  It makes all the difference in your life!  If Jesus was not divine, then a prophet lived and died.  No real relativity to our lives today.  But, if Jesus was God, He lives today.  He is available to us today.  The miracles He did when He walked on this earth can be accomplished in our day, when he chooses to do so.  Our lives can be at rest, trusting the words He spoke to people when He was in the flesh.  He lives on and then so do His teachings.  We can trust our lives and our eternities to them.  Let’s embrace His divinity by walking in faith today.  All things do work together for good for us who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Father, I will live out my life as Jesus taught me.  I trust your plan; your love and goodness to me.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
