Embrace His Second Coming
Don’t be Uninformed – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
Key Verse: 1 Thessalonians 4:13
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.
Picking up where we left off yesterday we see the “parade’ of heaven, led by Jesus, coming down to earth. They don’t touch the earth but will come close enough for all believers to see. When that moment comes, gravity will release us who are still alive on earth. We will rise from wherever we may be. Some will be at work; some in bed sleeping. Some will be eating and some will be relaxing—chatting with friends. At that moment, all believers on earth will look up and see Jesus with the host of heaven with Him.
The Apostle Paul tells us in verse 16 that the reason all believers will look up is because there will be a loud command and a trumpet call. Some will be awakened out of sleep, while other believers will be startled at work. Wherever we may be, we will hear the call and instantly understand what is happening. It won’t be scary for us who know Jesus, it will be glorious!
The parade will turn around and head back toward heaven. As you read these verses, you will see that the order of ascension is very specific. Jesus will lead. Those who have died in Christ will go second. Then those who are still alive will fall in behind. We will all be ushered into what God has prepared for His children!
Father, what a glorious day that will be; even so Jesus please come! Until then, help me to remain your faithful servant! In Jesus’ name, amen.
