Results of Obeying the Voice
Eternal Life – Part 1

Scripture Reading: John 5:25-30

Key Verse: John 5:24

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

If today’s study seems ho-hum to you, I want to tell you of a moment in your future when it will be very important.  Jesus reminds His listeners that whoever hears His voice and believes in Him will receive eternal life.  He adds this phrase: “and will not be condemned” (vs. 24).

            If you are a believer, this should bless you beyond words.  The moment you cross from this life to the next life, it certainly will!  There are no words that can adequately explain that moment.  Though I can’t explain how it will feel, the Bible does describe why it is going to feel beyond wonderful!  First, we will have a new mind, with complete understanding.  We will understand what eternal life really means to all who enjoy it.  We will understand the depths of God’s love and the paradise He has prepared for everyone who chooses to follow Him.

            Secondly, we will wake up in that moment with a new body.  No more aches and pains.  No more fatigue or frustrations!  It will be a body made for eternity, which means it will never experience the physical limitations we presently deal with.

            Thirdly, we will have a capacity for love that we’ve never come close to experiencing.  We will love God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as well as everyone else with an undying love!

Father, I don’t deserve what you are preparing for me.  Thank you for all the rewards to us who have listened and obeyed your voice!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
