All of us parents know that just because words are coming out of your mouth, doesn’t necessarily mean your kids are listening

Sunday Morning Worship

Series: “The Voice”
Today: “Results of Obeying the Voice”

Scripture:  John 10:9-10 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

1 John 3:21-22 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

Intro:  All of us parents know that just because words are coming out of your mouth, doesn’t necessarily mean your kids are    listening     .

* God wants us to see the     positives     to obeying His voice.

1 John 3:22a and receive from him anything we ask.

1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him.

I.    OUR UNDERSTANDING OF GOD DETERMINES OUR      FAITH      IN THIS PROMISE.

* Questions to ask:

A.  Does the judge of all your prayers care for you more than you can imagine?

B.  Does the judge of all your prayers have perfect wisdom for every situation?

C.  Do you want the judge of all your prayers to always give you the best answer, according to the wisdom of this universe?

II.   THE WAY THAT WE     LIVE     DETERMINES WHAT WE RECEIVE FROM OUR PRAYERS.

1 John 3:7-9 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

* Critical questions:

A.  Are you doing all that you know is     right     ?

James 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

B.  Are there any areas of      disobedience        that you are not actively dealing with?

Conclusion:  The result of hearing God’s voice and obeying God’s voice is receiving everything we ask for, according to His      will      because our prayers change from telling God the answer we think is right, to requesting His     perfect answer     .
