God takes on the responsibility to make things clear to us at His perfect time

Fine Tuning to the Voice
Making it Clear – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:12-21

Key Verse: Philippians 3:15

All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

Yesterday’s devotional looked at God’s job description in this area of hearing His voice.  God has taken on the responsibility to make things clear to us at the perfect time.  Today we must understand and do our job.  The Apostle Paul writes: “only let us live up to what we have already attained” (Philippians 3:16).  Paul wants believers to understand that God continually guides those who continually obey what He has previously revealed to them.

If you are obeying all that God has revealed to you in the past, you can relax when it comes to your future.  The question we must continually ask ourselves is: Is there anything that I am recanting on in my walk with God?  Is there anything that I feel God has convicted me of that it is sin and I’m ignoring His voice?  This is probably the greatest method of fine tuning to His voice.  When we walk in obedience to Him, the scriptures assure us of “fellowship” or connectedness to our Father: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7).  On the negative side, John makes this clear: “If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth” (1 John 1:6).  Let’s walk in all the light God has already revealed to us.

Father, I want to walk in fellowship with you and other believers.  Remind me when I begin to stray from any truth you have revealed to me.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
