Hearing His Voice
A personal GPS – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 30:19-26
Key Verse: Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Yesterday’s devotional used the illustration of GPS technology to illuminate what God wants to do for our daily lives. Today I want to return to that illustration to see another aspect of God’s voice in our lives. Those of us who have used a GPS know that when we get off track, whether intentional or not, we immediately hear a voice saying that it is looking for an alternate route.
Here is a wonderful truth for us who long to get to heaven: Our Father promises to help us get there, even when we get off track at times. The Plan A of our lives often is destroyed by sin. It may be someone else’s sin or, more often, it is our own sin that destroys Plan A. God is so forgiving and gracious; He is willing to be that voice to call out an alternate route: Plan B. Jesus is still our central focus and heaven is still our destination. However, our personal journey may take some detours for various reasons.
It is good to know that God can bless our mess! It is a great comfort to us who know we have made terrible mistakes along life’s journey, that God knows how and is willing to continue to bless us with new directions. God is never surprised by our failures and never short on grace toward His children!
Father, I will praise your name throughout eternity for the wonderful grace and patience you have shown me! In Jesus’ name, amen.
