Preparing for the Charge
Sexual Corrosion – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
As we continue yesterday’s study, I want to look at the weapons that God gives us to be over comers of sexual corrosion. God is very much aware and involved in His children’s daily lives, especially when it comes to temptation. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 we are given some assurance that helps us in the battles. First, we are told that God never allows some unusual temptation to overpower us. The devil will try to convince us that this temptation is different; too much to fight. The devil will put thoughts in our heads that try to make us believe that it’s “OK to fall to this one.” But the promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 is that no temptation will come our way but what is common to man.
Secondly, God gives us one of the greatest promises in the Bible in this verse: “no temptation will be beyond what we can bear.” Keep telling yourself this truth: you can have victory over all temptations. Here is a biblically sound truth: God’s children can sin, but they have been given the power to choose not to sin. You can know that nothing will come your way today that will be more than you can stand. God has designed your life and has measured your strength. Any temptation that you run into will never be stronger than the strength you have in Christ!
Father, I will walk though this day with confidence in you and your strength in me. I will have victory over all temptation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
