Sexual Corrosion – Part 1
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
We will never jumpstart our spiritual journey if there is sexual corrosion present in our lives. The Apostle Paul reminds us that sexual sins stand apart from other types of sin. All other sins are outside the body, but sexual sin is a sin against our own bodies. In other words, it causes internal corrosion that affects our ability to live the abundant life that Jesus died to give us!
There is only one way to truly avoid the corrosion of sexual sin: flee from it. Whenever sexual temptations come our way, we must turn and run—not walk! Sexual temptation seems to have a power over our society like no other sin. We must not underestimate the power it has to wreak havoc in our lives. It is amazing how men and women who have everything going for them will risk losing it all over a sexual encounter. Our news is filled with examples of ruined lives that had so much potential for good, yet were wrecked by falling to a temptation of some sexual allurement.
We must remember that our bodies are not our own when we give ourselves to Christ. Our bodies become temples of the Holy Spirit. God lives in us and we must be diligent to guard against dragging the divine into the mire of sin. (Continued)
Father, open my eyes to the slightest flirtation with sexual sin. Grant me strength to flee immediately. In Jesus’ name, amen.
