Finding the Power
Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:19-26
Key Verse: Galatians 5:25
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
If someone did write a book entitled, “Jumpstarting Cars for Dummies,” one of the things I’m sure they would say is to line up the two cars facing each other so that the two batteries are close to each other. The jumpstart cables are only so long, the drained battery must get lined up in close proximity to the good battery.
Spiritual jumpstarts for our souls must get in line with the source of power. The Apostle Paul, in our printed verse, is telling us to stay in step with the Spirit. In other words, line up in close proximity to the teachings and guidance of God’s Spirit. If your spiritual battery has been drained, the first step in recharging is to walk today in step with the Spirit.
When we walk in step with the Spirit, we will be saying many yeses and nos. We will say yes to the Spirit when He nudges us to say something or go in the direction He is leading. We will say no to negative thoughts and negative verbal communication to others. We will say no to sexual temptations, as well as selfish ambitions. Staying in step with the Spirit will mean purity of heart and making an effort for unity in our relationships. We will control our anger, making sure we don’t cause dissension or factions.
Are you lined up with the Spirit of God? Are you ready to be recharged by God’s power? Get close to the power!
Father, I give you permission to work in my heart today. Correct me and guide me. Help me to stay in step with your Spirit. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
