Good News: God provides each of us the power needed for expanding His Kingdom

Expand
Power for Expansion

Scripture Reading: Acts 1:1-11

Key Verse: Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The encouraging news, when we think of expanding God’s kingdom, is that God provides the power needed for expansion.  Our scripture for today reminds us that we who have received Jesus receive the Holy Spirit with His power.  That power is the all important element when it comes to effectively expanding God’s kingdom.

Whenever we speak of power we assume that we will somehow feel this power come upon us.  I don’t think that is the norm for most Christ followers.  I believe God’s power flows through me, but I don’t go through my days feeling powerful!  In fact, most days I feel weak and desperately in need of God to help me.  God’s power is not experienced by our human senses.  This divine power comes by a work of God through us—maybe in spite of us—at times.  For example, even while I feel weak, my words to someone hit them in a powerful way.  Possibly a kind deed you do in Jesus’ name will powerfully influence someone closer to God’s kingdom, though you may be totally unaware of it.

The Bible tells us that the just will live by faith (Romans 1:17).  We must remind ourselves that we have all the power of heaven working in us, even when we feel weak and inadequate.  Remember the Apostle Paul’s words: God’s power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).  Live a life of faith today!

Thank you, Father, for allowing your power to flow through me.  I will go about my day knowing your grace will be sufficient!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
