We must pursue God’s Word and ultimately embrace it as our own

Embrace
Born Again

Scripture Reading:  John 3:1-8

Key Verse: John 3:3

In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

When anyone truly embraces the truth that Jesus taught, it results in a born again experience.  Our scripture describes the night that Nicodemus came to Jesus.  He was a Jew on the highest ruling council of the land.  He was in pursuit of truth—of answers—to the hunger in his life for purpose.  He saw and heard enough teaching from Jesus that made him want to seek Jesus out, even if it was under the cover of night.

Nicodemus started the conversation by talking about the miracles that Jesus had performed, but Jesus quickly turned to the heart of the matter and told Nicodemus he needed to be born again if he wanted to see the kingdom of heaven.  In all his training in theology, Nicodemus couldn’t understand the term “born again.”  Jesus explained that anyone seeking the kingdom of heaven must be born of the Spirit.  This new birth comes as a result of believing in the Son that God sent to earth to redeem it (John 3:16).

All of us must travel this same life path if we want to end up entering the kingdom of heaven.  We must pursue understanding of God’s Word and ultimately embrace it as our own!  We must believe in Jesus as the Son of God and receive this gift of salvation.  These are the essentials of being born again!

Father, I believe in your plan of salvation.  I receive the gift from Jesus; His gift of forgiveness of my sins.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
