Pursue Him
Seek and Pursue – Part 3
Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:8-15
Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:11
He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
In our last two devotionals we have been studying a Life Path based on seeking God’s peace. Today we finish up by looking at the final “E” of our acrostic of P.E.A.C.E. The final truth in the Life Path is represented with the word “Expand.” God’s Word tells us we are to expand the kingdom of God. Jesus’ final words to His disciples were to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20a).
The disciples quickly obeyed Jesus’ directions and in Acts 2:41 we see that three thousand people were added to God’s kingdom on the Day of Pentecost. These new followers of Jesus devoted themselves to the teachings, to the fellowship, to their times of communion, and to prayer. It was God’s power at work but it came through His faithful followers.
Our Life Path is all about finding God’s peace; a peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7). If you have yet to begin this journey, I hope you will take it. Do you love your life? Do you want to see good days ahead? Follow the Life Path—turn from evil and pursue P.E.A.C.E.!
Father, I believe that the truly good life is found in you! Guide me to your peace and keep me with your power! In Jesus’ name, amen.
