Pursue Him
Seek and Pursue – Part 1

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:8-15

Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:11

He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.

Our scriptural passage has a quote from Psalms 34:12.  This Psalm starts by saying: “Whoever would love life and see good days must…”  So this addresses just about everyone in this world—saint or sinner.  Everyone wants to live this life, seeing good days.  The question is not what we want, but how do we get there?  The answer to that comes from a Life Path.  A good life is about a journey; a path that we walk.

The Apostle Peter challenges his readers to seek and pursue peace on this Life Path.  This is where it all begins.  When a person who is far from God walks into our church, we want that person to start the Life Path by seeking and pursuing God.  It is a journey and everyone must take it if they want to enjoy life as it was meant to be.  The word that Peter uses for peace in this passage is “eirene.”  The literal translation is the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ.

The Life Path begins as a person determines to pursue this peace—a right relationship with God.  If anyone will pursue this peace with God, they will find foundational truths about what this life is really all about.  They will find water that will satisfy the thirst of their inner being.  Whoever would love life and see good days must seek and pursue P.E.A.C.E.  (Continued)

Father, I want to live a life that is good, without regrets.  Help me in my journey to find peace!  In Jesus’ name, amen.
