God is faithful. God will never be an “absentee father.”

Taming Temptation: God’s Part in My Temptation
God is Faithful

Scripture: Jude 1:24-25

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

The second truth that we want to look at this month is the simple, but powerful, statement: God is faithful.  When writing this verse about temptation, the apostle realized that God was a “major player” in our battle with temptation.  Between our flesh and the evil one we would lose the battle to defeat temptation if God doesn’t step in!  The good news is:  He does step in—in a powerful way.

God is faithful.  God will never be an “absentee father!”  He knows what temptations we will face before we face them.  He also knows the levels of our strength and never allows that to be overwhelmed by temptation.  (We will look at that wonderful truth much more, later in this month.)

Webster uses words like “constant and true” when defining “faithful.”  As a child of God, we will never face a temptation without our Father being constantly present to help us.  He is true to His Word, your temptations are common and you can have victory over them.  God is faithful!

When we do allow ourselves to fail, our Father is still very present.  He does not run from us, but rather He runs to us!  Yes, God’s heart grieves over our sin, but He remains faithful to us, even in our failures!  The Apostle Paul reminded Timothy:  “If we are faithless, He will remain faithful for He cannot disown himself” (2 Timothy 2:13).  We are in Christ, part of God’s family.  He will never disown us!  God is faithful!

“Father, I will rest in your faithfulness today!  I worship you because of your everlasting faithfulness!  I am determined to walk worthy of you!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
