What We Believe About Heaven
What God has Prepared – Part 2
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:6-10
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”
The apostle makes a statement in verse 6 that is noteworthy: “We…speak a message of wisdom among the mature.” Paul had received a great revelation from God, so much so that God had to give Paul a thorn in his flesh to keep him from being conceited (2 Corinthians 12:7). The apostle is sharing with us some of that revelation and sees it as a message that only the mature will truly understand.
Immature Christians think more of this world than of the next! Immature people serve themselves before others—the exact opposite of Christ’s model. Immature people are all about immediate gratification rather than waiting for some reward waiting for them in heaven! Immature people run after empty pleasures and temporary riches.
Paul’s message is for the mature: Die to the flesh; serve others. Your reward will be great! No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what God is preparing for us who are passionate about modeling the life of Jesus! Heaven will be worth it all. Yes, the word “all” is fitting because it is the best we have in the English language. All…complete…nothing can compare to the glorious riches waiting for God’s children! Yes, it gets tough down here, but hang in there, it will be worth it…all!
Father, please remind me throughout my day of what is waiting for me as I remain faithful. Thank you, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
