The Apostle Paul declares that we have the mind of Christ.

Why Believe the Bible?
Who Can Understand?

Scripture Reading:  1 Corinthians 2:10-16

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 2:14

The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The Bible has been studied by students in secular universities for years, mostly for its poetic value.  Those who studied it from that perspective were not all changed!  The unbelieving person does not receive the deep truths of God.  He cannot understand them—they are foolishness to him, as the apostle said!

The believer, who has asked Jesus into his life, is equipped to receive and understand God’s eternal wisdom.  The Spirit takes up residence in us—we are the temple of the Holy spirit.  Paul declares that we have the mind of Christ.

As we talk to our unsaved friends, we must keep in mind that they are not equipped to understand the deep things of Christ.  Jesus told us not to cast our pearls before the swine (Matthew 7:6).  He was telling us that the unbeliever would make fun of and throw “mud” on the valuable words of life.  We must be careful to lead them to acceptance of Jesus before we try to convince them to obey other precepts of God’s Word.  We are foolish to try to correct an unbeliever’s lifestyle with biblical truths; they won’t receive it.  The world does not care what the Bible says.  They don’t have the mind of Christ to receive it.  Let’s live out our faith in the Bible and let that light shine bright!

Father, your Word has transformed me and I praise you for it.  Help me to live out your Word so that others come to faith.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
