Authentic Leaders Lead at Home
Commitment
Scripture Reading: Acts 20:22-31
Key Verse: Acts 20:24
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.
The Apostle Paul’s testimony in our printed key verse is the essence of the word commitment. Paul had started a great journey and a great work for God. However, many people start good things but never finish the job. It takes a great dose of commitment to see a task through till the end. The apostle was willing to “finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus had given him”!
The Lord Jesus has given each of us a task to complete. If you are a father, your task is to lead your family and not give up! It is hard work. It is frustrating work—dealing with all the personalities of each family member. It is draining work, trying to figure out the needs of each family member and how to meet those needs. However, God never calls us to a task that is too much for us. He has promised that He will be our wisdom and strength and nothing is too hard for Him. We, as leaders, must declare by faith: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
Have you considered walking away? Do you feel like quitting and just giving up? That is natural in our human nature, but today each of us must draw upon Divine nature to complete our God-given task! Commitment is our part; being adequate is God’s part!
Father, thank you for your power and strength made available to me. I will make a fresh commitment to the work you’ve called me to. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
