Authentic Leaders Lead at Home
Men Like Him – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:25-30
Key Verse: Philippians 2:29
Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him
We are continuing our study on Epaphroditus, a friend of the Apostle Paul. Paul told the Philippian Christ followers to “honor men like him.” That makes me want to know more about Epaphroditus so I can be like him!
We noted yesterday that he was a believer. Today we see that he was a “fellow worker.” This man had learned how to be on a team and work together with Paul. I believe that is a key ingredient in our homes as well. We need to see ourselves as fellow workers on a team. The home is not just “women’s work.” The home is a place that adults and children should work together to make a safe place to live together. The home is the place for every member to learn what it means to be a fellow worker, cooperating with the other team members to complete all the work and functions of the home. Men, that is our job: lead this team of fellow workers.
Finally, it was obvious that Epaphroditus was a great comfort and help to Paul—a real encourager. Men like that deserve honor. Men, are we leading in our homes with that kind of spirit and attitude? Are we a friend, a comfort and support? Are we being a friend to all members of our household? I know it is not always easy; that is why we need leaders!
Father, I am willing to do the hard work of being a leader in my home. Grant me your strength and wisdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
