Authentic Leaders Are Led
Reminders for a Leader

Scripture Reading:  John 14:23-31

Key Verse:  John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The good news for anyone choosing to lead like Jesus is God has promised to remind us of all we need to know.  Our printed key verse for today tells us clearly that one of the main job descriptions of the Holy Spirit is to remind us of everything Jesus taught while on earth.  In other words, we have an inner voice that will put thoughts into our minds.

            Have you ever had a task that you knew you needed to make a note to remind you or you would forget?  Making a note like that can ease our minds of stress, knowing it will help us accomplish our work.  But there is one more thing that is critical to the process: doing the task once we were reminded of it!  Again, have you ever been reminded by a note of a task and procrastinated even after being reminded?  And have you been embarrassed by totally forgetting to do the task because of that procrastination?  I am sure we have all experienced those feelings.  This is why it is critical that when God’s Spirit reminds you of some teaching of Jesus that you immediately obey!

            Leaders, the authentic ones, are grateful for God’s Spirit and His reminders.  These leaders also are quick to listen and obey!  That is what a good leader does.  He is led long before he tries to lead.  Be ready for the Spirit’s leadership in your life today!

Father, I am so grateful for your Holy Spirit and his work in my life.  I will listen for His reminders today and quickly obey!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
