Leading others, in a positive way, is done by those led by God’s Holy Spirit.

Authentic Leaders Are Led
Walk Like a Leader

Scripture Reading:  Galatians 5:16-26

Key Verse: Galatians 5:25

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Jesus told us that if He went back to heaven He would send a counselor—the Spirit of God to live in us (John 14:16-17).  We will study that passage more later, but today we must realize our responsibility in this partnership.  The Apostle Paul wrote in our scripture for today that we must “stay in step with the Spirit.”  Leaders are led by God’s Holy Spirit!

If you have asked Jesus into your life, then you have received His forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.  The only question is: are you being sensitive to the inner nudging of God’s Spirit in you?  Being sensitive to His Spirit is not only sensing His direction but it also means your obedience to that direction.  For example, today God’s Spirit might nudge you to give someone a helping hand.  The nudge of the Spirit usually includes helping us see the need and being drawn to it as something we ought to do.  God’s Spirit cannot and will not force you to be obedient to that nudge.  That is up to us!  If we get into the habit of ignoring the Spirit’s nudges, we can become hardened to hearing those nudges.

If we are going to lead (influence) others in a positive way, we must be willing to be led by God’s Holy Spirit.  Our constant openness and obedience in following God’s lead will make us authentic spiritual leaders!  Bless others around you today by leading them, as you are being led.

Father, I ask for your Holy Spirit to open my eyes today to where you want me to go and what you want me to do!  I am determined to be obedient!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
