Authentic Leaders Are Led
Who is Your Leader? – Part 1
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:2-11
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
This month we are going to study leadership because everyone is a leader. The definition of leadership that I believe is most accurate says leaders are those who have influence over another. With that definition, moms are leaders over their children. Dads are leaders over anyone they influence, both in the home and at work. Not everyone has a leadership title, but everyone has influence over others; for good or for bad.
As Christ followers, we want to lead like Jesus. We want to bring positive influence on everyone around us. We want to say to those we influence, the Apostle Paul’s words: follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. If you desire to be a positive influence on your family and friends, learn to follow Christ better each day. I have told many couples seeking counsel on how to make their marriages better: learn to be a better Christ follower and you will be a better spouse.
Jesus brought the wisdom of the universe to our world. Those who tried to outwit Him were set in their place. Those that opened their minds to Jesus were enriched in their lives. Authentic leaders who truly influence in a positive way are leading like Jesus; they are following His example. We need to put our energies into learning to be more like Jesus rather than being a good leader. If we do, the good leadership will be automatic!
Father, I want to tap into your wisdom for my life. Open my eyes to the false and help me to see the truth. Lead me as I lead my family. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
