Delight in Being with Him
Delight in the Lord – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Psalm 37:1-7
Key Verse: Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
The third step in delighting in the Lord is committing your ways to the Lord. The word commit means that you have closed all other doors; no other way will do! Those who commit their way to the Lord have determined to do life the way the Lord wants them to. They have decided not to take any shortcuts or detours! The committed will not be swayed by the evil one’s allurements. The committed will not quit because of their own failures. The committed get back up, brush themselves off and move forward. The committed truly delight themselves in the Lord.
Finally, to truly delight in the Lord, we must learn to wait on the Lord’s timing. Notice that the Psalmist added the word patiently! We must wait with the proper attitude. We wait expectantly, believing in the goodness and faithfulness of our God. We wait in full confidence that we will receive the perfect answer from our gracious heavenly Father! We wait, knowing that our wants and desires may be short of the perfect answer. We wait, not demanding our way, but surrendered to His will; His ways!
We can delight in being with Him. Make time for you and God to be alone together!
Father, I am committed to following after you! I wait patiently for the perfect answer to every situation. I will, indeed, delight in you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
