Delight in Being with Him
Keeping Power

Scripture Reading:  2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

“The Lord bless you and keep you

If we live in fear and defeat we can never truly delight in our prayer time.  We delight in being with Him when we know that being with Him provides protection from the evil one.  This beautiful benediction from the book of Numbers reminds us that God will keep us; guarding and protecting us!  In our suggested additional reading, the Apostle Paul declares: “But the Lord is faithful and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

            Before we were in Christ, we were under the dominion of darkness and the power of the evil one.  But once we accepted Jesus and allowed Him to forgive us, the damning effects of sin were broken.  We can stand up to the evil one in Jesus’ name.  We do not have to ever falter when tempted.  We often do fail to trust Christ and His power over evil, but that is our choice.  God’s promise to every one of His children is that He will not allow any temptation to come to us that we can’t say no to!  (1 Corinthians 10:13)

            Have you claimed the keeping power that lies within you?  Do you, by faith, feel a confidence in God’s strength that flows through you?  This is the key to delighting in being with Him during our prayer times.  When we gain power and victory over the evil one because of our time with God, it is a delight!  I don’t often feel strong, but I often claim power and experience His power in me!

Father, help me to see and understand what being with you will mean in my daily life!  I will delight in you.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
