We seldom know what God is truly up to…we simply must learn to trust and obey.

Defeat Your Enemy While with Him
Spread it Out – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  2 Kings 19:9-13

Key Verse:  2 Kings 19:14

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.

Can you picture the scene from yesterday’s devotional?  King Hezekiah walking over to the temple, getting alone with God and spreading the threatening letter out before the Lord!  I hope you will allow this picture to be a model for you.  We all will feel threatened at times.  The threats come from people, from financial stress, from challenges from the evil one!  What do you do when fear grips you and you don’t have an answer?

When we get alone with God, we find power that goes way beyond our own!  When we get alone with God we can obtain wisdom that goes way beyond our brain power!  When we get alone with God we can find courage that goes way beyond our normal levels of courage.  The key to Hezekiah’s victory was found in his prayer power, not his army’s power.

Hezekiah wouldn’t find out until the next day how God had sent His death angel into the camp of his enemies and defeated them before the actual battle ever came about.  After prayer, you probably will not know how God will work, but we can leave our prayer time with a deep confidence that He will work in our behalf.  When we leave our prayer time, we must leave with deep trust, rejoicing that God will take over from there!

Father, I bless you for your loving care.  I rest in your mighty power to work on my behalf.  Thanks for meeting with me!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
