Deepen Your Talk with Him
Three Levels of You – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 41:1-4
Key Verse: Ezekiel 41:4
And he measured the length of the inner sanctuary; it was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits across the end of the outer sanctuary. He said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
This week’s theme is to learn to deepen our talks with God. We are using the Old Testament tabernacle as an illustration to help us learn some principles. In the book of Ezekiel we see the description of this tabernacle. In the verses for today’s reading we see the tabernacle had an outer sanctuary. In this outer sanctuary all of God’s people could enter to worship.
One author suggested the metaphor of this outer sanctuary as the “public you.” Everyone has access to this “you.” This is what everyone sees as you work, worship and relax. This outer you is your appearance, image that everyone can view. This outer you may not truly represent who you really are! People around you may perceive you to be one thing, but if they could go deeper, they might find a whole other you!
We must be careful not to keep God at this outer level of us. He wants a deeper relationship with us. Obviously God knows you better than you know yourself, but if we don’t intentionally open our lives to His Lordship on a deeper level, we lose out on an intimate relationship with the God who loves us more than any other is capable of! Don’t allow your prayer to be at the level of “public” prayers. Learn to go deeper.
Father, I want to trust you with my deepest inner thoughts. Help me to go deep with you and enjoy an intimate walk with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
