A Meeting Place
A Usual Place – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Luke 22:40-46
Key Verse: Luke 22:39
Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
Yesterday we realized that Jesus went to the garden that was located in the Mount of Olives so often that His disciples used the word “usual.” Some translations say: “as was His custom.” In other words, Jesus found a favorite place to pray and went there often! Could it be that when He was comfortable with His place of prayer, He felt it easier to have an authentic conversation with the Father in heaven?
I encourage you to find a place that is comfortable to pray your daily prayers. Find a place that is quiet and secluded, as much as possible. It should be a room in your house that you can freely pour out your soul to your Father. Sometimes we need to simply cry out to God in full voice. Do you have a place where you can do that? Have you developed a place where you feel few distractions and you can concentrate on your relationship with God?
When couples start dating they often find a place they really enjoy going to—maybe the place they originally met. Sometimes they will call this their place. A love relationship uses that kind of verbiage in describing a place that is meaningful to their relationship. Do you have a place that has become meaningful to your relationships with God? This is the place that you return to over and over to renew that friendship!
Father, thank you for providing a friendship with me that we can grow together. I will come often to hear from you and cast my burdens. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
