Our faith in God and His Word produces in us what we could never obtain on our own.

A Meeting Place
A Usual Place – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  Luke 22:40-46

Key Verse: Luke 22:39

Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.

I want to return to the scripture used earlier in this month’s theme to talk about a place to pray.  It is certainly true that God is everywhere and with us no matter where we decide to pray.  The Apostle Paul talked about praying without ceasing, but I believe for the believer who is going to go deep in their relationship with God, there will be a “usual” place for their daily prayer.  That does not mean we never pray anywhere else.  It simply means we lock in a place for daily prayer.

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives as was His custom.  In other words, His usual place!  Jesus talked to His Father continually and in many different places, but on a normal day, when He was in His routine in Jerusalem, He always went to this garden to pray.  It was here that an angel appeared to Him and strengthened Him (verse 43).  It was here in this garden that Jesus felt comfortable crying out to God from the depths of His soul.  This place was secluded and quiet.  This was a place that Jesus could be comfortable bearing His soul to the Father in heaven.

Do you have a place like this garden?  Do you have a place that is your place?  Does your spouse and family know and describe this as your usual place of prayer?  This place can speak volumes of your values and priorities!  (Continued)

Father, I look forward to meeting you at our place.  Thank you for your continued love and presence in my life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
