Determine to Meet with Him
Each Day
Scripture Reading: Luke 21:29-36
Key Verse: Luke 21:37
Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives
Yesterday we saw Jesus go to the Mount of Olives where the Garden of Gethsemane was located. Yesterday’s scriptural context was Jesus facing a crisis; He knew His time had come to die for the sins of the world. His heart was so heavy—described in Luke 22:44 as “being in anguish.” Today’s scripture is reporting simply another routine day. Jesus had gone to the same place He always did to pray.
When we face a crisis in our lives, most of us pray. Most of us find time to get alone with God and cry out to Him for help. That is good and He wants to help us in our times of great need, but what does your prayer life look like when it is simply another normal day? Do you have a normal time of prayer, even when you don’t feel any great burden on you?
Jesus modeled the kind of relationship our Father in heaven would like with us. He wants a daily, moment by moment, relationship with us. Of course He wants to help us when we are in trouble, but He would like to infuse us with strength on a daily basis so we are more prepared for those days of crisis. Be determined to take time to pray today. That determination will pay big dividends when troubles come!
Father, fill me with your wisdom and strength today so I can walk worthy of your love! Thank you for our daily friendship! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
