Second Will Be First
No Eye Has Seen – Part 1
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”
Those who are in a continual state of achieving first can never understand the concept of second. As Paul wrote in verse eight, “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” Our theme this month, “I Am Second,” sounds ridiculous to the natural man. In verse 14 Paul continues to explain: “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
If you have accepted Jesus into your life, you have the Spirit of God living in you. As Paul says, “we have the mind of Christ” (verse 16). God has revealed to us what the world cannot see. Our key verse says that “no eye has seen, no mind has conceived.” This refers to the Gospel of God—His salvation plan for us now and in eternity. We often refer to this verse as pointing to our future rewards, which certainly is true, but Paul wants us to realize that we Christ followers are experiencing some of God’s plan now!
God has prepared for everyone who lets Jesus be first in their lives an abiding presence and peace that passes human understanding. We can face life’s troubles with a confidence that our world has no clue of. It is their “eye” and their “mind” that cannot conceive God’s plans.
Father, I praise you that I can get a little glimpse of your glory here on earth. Thank you for my full salvation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
