Practice your smile today, Jesus didn’t sleep last night working on your problems.

God’s Provisions:
He Laughs – Part 2

Scripture Reading:  Genesis 21:1-7

Key Verse:  Genesis 21:3

Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.

Sarah was so filled with joy that she laughed when the wonderful provision of God came to her—her son Isaac.  I believe it pleased God to see her laugh.  Remember, Sarah laughed a year before this at the thought that she could become pregnant.  Now she laughed because of the joy in her heart.  She said that anyone who would hear about her having a son at her age would laugh as well.

How much laughter is part of your life?  Do people know you as a person of joy or a person full of anxiety?  Do they see you smile a lot or do they see you fretting a lot?  God would smile if He can see you smile more!  A smile from you means you feel secure in the God you serve.  A smile from you tells God that you are convinced that He is “raah”:  God will provide.

God’s people have all the reasons in the world to rejoice.  Yet we too often spend our days worrying rather than rejoicing.  We get focused on our problems rather than on our God.  We act like we are carrying the weight of the world in our hearts, rather than enjoying the Lord of this universe in our hearts.  Join me in practicing your smile today!  Not because you have no problems, but because you have Jesus as your Lord.  Smile in faith—provisions are on the way.  Rejoice in the Lord.

Father, forgive me when I do more worrying than smiling.  Help me live my life in full confidence and joy in you.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
