God’s Timing:
Your Time is Near – Part 1
Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:17-25
Key Verse: Matthew 26:18
He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'”
Our scripture for today describes a time shortly before Jesus would be crucified for the sins of the world. Jesus knew the timing and understood that time had been appointed by God the Father. He knew that it would just be a few hours away at this point. Jesus spoke as if He carried an appointment book and had just looked at His watch, realized how close He was to that appointment.
We can only wish we had Jesus’ understanding of the Father’s timing. When we pray for God to help us, we are never able to know the exact time the Father will answer that prayer—or how. As God’s child you have never prayed a prayer that did not get answered. We don’t like to think of “no” as being an answer, but it is. Sometimes no is a better answer than yes. We must learn to thank our Father in heaven for both! Even when the answer is yes, we must wait for the appointed time for it to come about. God knows the perfect answer before we even make the prayer request. A delayed yes is always about timing. God has placed it in His divine planner. When we get to that date, it will happen. We don’t need to worry, once God puts your answer in His book, nothing will stop that appointment from coming about at the appointed time!
Father, thank you for knowing my life and its purpose so much better than I do. I will rest in your timing and wisdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
