Our covenant is a covenant of faithfulness on God’s part, so no need to stress out.

God’s Covenant:
His Covenant of Faithfulness

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 13:1-6

Key Verse: Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

God’s covenant with us is sealed through Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross.  His covenant includes far more than the forgiveness of sins.  God’s salvation is holistic in that it includes every aspect of our lives.  One aspect of God’s covenant is His pledge to walk with us every moment of the day and night.

Our key verse for today reminds us of God’s promise to never leave us nor forsake us.  The Hebrew writer had just been talking about money and how we should avoid making it the top priority of our lives.  This scripture reminds us to be content with what we have BECAUSE: God is by our side continually.  If we have this covenant of His faithful presence, why worry about material things?  If you could physically see the presence of Jesus today, would you really worry about anything?  I have a feeling all of us would relax and know the sight of Jesus would bring total peace!

We can’t see Him with our physical eyes, but we must visualize God’s presence with our spiritual eyes—the eyes of our hearts, as the Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 1:18.  Whatever is troubling you today, try to visualize a divine presence beside you.  When you, by faith, enter into God’s covenant, you have a promise of His presence.  Jesus told His disciples, right before going back to heaven, “and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

Father, my eyes of faith see you standing beside me, guiding, providing, and protecting throughout this day!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
