Positive feelings flow out of our thoughts of faith in a God who is able.

Faith Can Lead Feelings:
Understanding Faith

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 11:13-20

Key Verse: Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Hebrews chapter eleven is the famous “faith chapter” of the Bible.  The author writes the definition of faith and then proceeds to fill the chapter with examples of faith in action.  If you have never read the entire chapter, I encourage you to take the time to do it!

This whole month has been about feelings.  Feelings should never be discounted as unimportant in a Christ follower’s life, but faith must guide our entire lives, including our feelings.  Faith not only guides some normal feelings, it creates a set of feelings.  These feelings are positive and encouraging emotions that flow out of thoughts of faith!  It is extremely important to understand faith and practicing it continually!

According to Hebrews 11:1, faith is an inner confidence about things which lack visible evidence.  I believe God helps us with that confidence when we apply ourselves to reading His Word (Romans 10:17).  “Being sure” of something that has no other visible evidence will only come from believing the Bible is trustworthy.  If we can believe the Bible, our faith will soar to claim its promises.  As Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “it is impossible to please God” without our faith being activated.  Remember, we may not be sure of God’s will, but that need not subtract from our faith in God’s power.  As you face life’s challenges, “be sure” of God’s ability to act in your behalf!

Father, I am certain of your power to do immeasurably more than I can ask or imagine!  I praise you for love and favor shown to me!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
