God’s Focus on Feelings:
Inner Beings – Part 2

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being
As we continue studying this great prayer in Ephesians, I want to focus on the results that Paul points to in verses 17-19. The first result is that we be rooted and established in love. We can never be truly emotionally healthy until we are rooted in love. If our emotions take a detour down the path of anger, bitterness, and an unforgiving spirit, we will destroy the possibility of emotional health.
God means for His children to model for the world that life can be lived rooted and established in love. The emotion or feelings of love are critical to our health physically and emotionally. This love is not surface feelings that are fickle, coming and going according to how someone may have treated us. This love is a deep work of God in our inner being that sustains us even as we are attacked by someone. This love can keep us strong when people let us down and hurt us. God’s work helps us forgive quickly and return love instead of vengeful emotions of our flesh.
Ask God to do His deep work in you, establishing you in His love. When we establish something, we are putting something in place that doesn’t come and go; it’s established! This is the result that we all need; a deep love for ourselves and others that flows in us and through us, blessing others around us!
Father, I open my heart and life to your work deep within me! Establish me in your love that stabilizes my emotions and feelings! I ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
