God’s work in our inner beings will produce emotional health in us.

God’s Focus on Feelings:
Inner Beings – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  Ephesians 3:14-21

Key Verse:  Ephesians 3:16

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being

Today’s scripture is a great prayer of the Apostle Paul.  I encourage you to pray it as your own prayer for yourself and others you pray for.  In reference to this week’s theme of “God’s Focus on Feelings,” take note of the words, “your inner being.”  It is the inner being that Paul is focusing on in this prayer.  We were all made with the obvious “outer being”:  the physical appearance.  We all have an inner being as well: our thinking and emotional functions.  God can and does work on both, but more often it is the inner being that God is most concerned with.  Jesus reminded us that man looks on the outer things, but God looks upon the heart.

            The reason we can be assured of God’s focus on our feelings is that our Creator understands how our feelings affect our behaviors.  Of course we must never let our feelings be totally in charge of our behaviors, but we are all influenced by our feelings.  God knows that we need to be strengthened in our inner beings.  God inspired the apostle’s prayer, knowing that if we are going to live life to the full, we must enjoy emotional health.

            If you struggle to control certain feelings or have evaluated that your emotional life is unhealthy, this prayer is for you.  Let me suggest that each morning for the next week you ask God to strengthen you in your inner being!  God invites you to ask and receive!

Father, I want to have my inner being strengthened and healthy for your glory and my good.  Thank you for your help, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
