The Divine in Our Design:
Feelings in the Fruit – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:19-26
Key Verse: Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Our scriptures for yesterday and today are often referred to as the “Fruit of the Spirit.” Have you ever observed that all these fruits are packed full of feelings? That does not mean that they are all about feelings, but they certainly have a major “feeling” factor.
This week’s theme is entitled: “The Divine in Our Design.” God put us together—designing every aspect of life. In our lives, feelings and emotions play an important part. The Bible tells us to walk by faith, but that does not mean to deny all our feelings. We have to deal with how we feel. We can do that appropriately if we obey the Great Designer’s instructions!
Are we supposed to ever “feel” the fruits of the Spirit in our lives? Of course! Are we supposed to act upon them only when we feel them? Of course not! The point being, we allow the fruits to so saturate (transform) our minds that our feelings are affected in a positive way!
Our flesh (the natural part of us) will feel the emotions of the sinful nature very easily! Walking the narrow way with Jesus, we will have to work hard to feel the fruits of the Spirit. We will need to act on them before we feel them. (Continued)
Father, I am committed to feeling the joy and peace that comes from your Spirit in me. Help me walk in faith until that happens. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
