The Power to Focus:
Capture One’s Mind – Part 1
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 10:1-6
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Asking Jesus into our lives results in eternal life as well as abundant living. Controlling our thought life is the only way we can enjoy the abundant life. It is our thought life that allows stress, anxiety, doubt and lust to rob us of the life God intends for us. Abundant living is a life focused on our Father’s promises of guidance, protection, wisdom and love for daily life. Before we have Jesus in us, the devil has free control of our minds. After we accept Jesus, He brings all His authority over heaven and earth into our lives. Now we can, if we choose, focus on the things that result in abundant living.
Today’s printed key verse reminds us that we must take captive our thoughts that will turn our focus back to enemy territory. The Greek word for capture can be translated in a literal sense: “capture one’s mind.” Have you done that? Have you taken control of your thought life? It can’t be done in your own power; it must be done in Jesus’ name. Remember who lives in you! Jesus was given all authority and whoever has Jesus has His authority working in them. You have the power to focus on the things of God. You have the power to take captive any thought that robs you of peace and godliness. God raised Jesus from the dead and with that same power will help us raise our thoughts to things above!
Father, I praise you for your help in the battles of my mind. I will focus on eternal things today. In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, Amen!
