The devil will make sure you have thoughts of doubt; make sure they don’t stay in your thinking! Be ready for his attacks using the greatest weapon: God’s Word.

Power to Forgive:
God is Faithful

Scripture Reading:  1 John 1:5-10

Key Verse: 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Do you believe that God is always faithful to His Word?  Can you believe that more than you believe the inner voices that cause doubt?  Our scripture leaves no room for doubt; God will forgive our sins when we confess them, sincerely, to Him.  Once we confess a sin to Him, it is up to God to stay true to His Word; it is up to us to believe His word.  We must not allow our fleshly doubts or the devil’s lies to rob us of our forgiveness.

We must remember the warning in James 1:6-7.  When we ask for anything from God, including forgiveness, we must believe and not doubt.  If we doubt, we should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  If you believe these warnings from James, then after confessing sin to God, you must rise above the temptation to doubt.  The devil will make sure you have a thought of doubt; you must make sure that thought does not stay in your thinking!  Be ready for His attack of doubt by having our greatest weapon at hand, God’s Word.  When tempted to doubt God’s forgiveness, quote 1 John 1:9.  Write it on a 3 x 5 card and carry it with you.  God is faithful to us.  Let’s be faithful to Him and believe His words.

Jesus paid the price for all sins, present and future.  Our confession of personal sin connects us to God’s provisions, allowing us to be covered by Jesus’ sacrifice!

Father, as I confess my sin to you, I will rejoice that your work in Christ is applied to my life and I am forgiven.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
