Are you ready to step into the Lordship issue? Are you convinced that Jesus is right and worthy to be followed with total obedience?

Power to Commit:
The Question

Scripture Reading:  John 6:60-71

Key Verse:  John 6:67

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

Jesus proclaimed to those who had been following Him that he was the bread that must be eaten to find eternal life.  After His teaching, many were grumbling about such a narrow view.  Jesus stood His ground.  When truth is truth, there is no other option!  Then the sad conclusion: “From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him” (John 6:66).  Jesus looked at His inner circle and asked the all-important question:  “You do not want to leave too, do you?”

Following Jesus is not the broad, easy way that we would vote for in our lives.  His teachings are uncompromising and demand total obedience.  Because Jesus was the Light of the world, there is no room for half-hearted commitment.  If Jesus is the Son of God, giving His life for our redemption, does He not deserve our full commitment?

Are you ready to take this next step?  Maybe you have received Jesus as your Savior and taken the initiation step of baptism.  If so, are you ready to step into the Lordship issue?  Are you convinced that Jesus is right and worthy to be followed with total obedience?  If so, make the commitment.  Bow your head and surrender every aspect of your life to Him.  Put Him in the driver’s seat and be obedient to every direction He takes you.

Father, I know you are truth and I can trust you.  I know you are love and I can relax in you.  I give you my all and fully commit to your will and way for my life.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
