Power to Change:
Completing the Work – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:3-11
Key Verse: Philippians 1:6
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
As we continue our study from yesterday’s devotional, we see another important fact that helps build our confidence. God not only has a plan for our change; God not only wants to do the work in us, He also has the power to complete the work that He started.
The apostle wants all believers to be encouraged that God never quits—never gives up the projects that He begins. God is in the business to complete the work that He starts. Genesis describes the creation of our world. God began the good work and stayed with the project until it was complete. Then He pronounced it all good.
To me, it is exciting to realize that my Creator God has started a good work in me! At times I am impatient for Him to make me better. I want perfection if possible, but I must be willing to patiently wait for God’s timing in all his work in me. I am far from complete or perfect, but I am getting better. When I look back over the past many years of my journey with God, I can see the wonderful changes in me—God has done it and must get all the glory! I am confident my Father will complete His plan in my life. I can hardly wait!
Will you allow confidence to grow in your heart? Will you honor God with your faith that He will complete the work in you.
Father, you deserve my total confidence. You do have the ability to do the work needed in me! I will trust that you will complete that work as well. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
