Thank God for providing your church with teachers who can guide you into the depths of His eternal truths.

Learn and Share: Teaching – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  Matthew 28:16-20

Key Verse:  Matthew 28:20

…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This week we are going to look at the next step, which is to learn, obey and share all that Jesus taught.  In our printed key verse for today, we see that Jesus challenged His disciples to take all they had learned and share it with others.  This happened in several ways, as it will today.

First, the disciples carried out the task Jesus gave them by formal teaching times.  In Acts 2, we can read Peter’s message to the on looking crowd on the day of Pentecost.  The Apostle Paul was led by God’s Spirit to write and distribute his letters among the churches.  Not everyone will be called upon to make these formal presentations of Jesus’ teachings.  Ephesians 4:11 makes it clear that God will call and gift some to be teachers.  These individuals will be given special insights and communication abilities to “prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (vs. 12).

Some characteristics of those who are called and gifted to teach are a passion for God’s Word and a willingness to prepare solid biblical lessons.  A gifted teacher does not dread the preparation time, or the presentation time of the classroom.  Gifted teachers will receive affirmations from their listeners that go beyond the normal polite comments of their students.

Father, thank you for providing your church with teachers who can guide us into the depths of your eternal truths.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
