We may all run into a person today that seems so insignificant to the world around us, but we must trust that these “meetings” are divine appointments.

Living in 3D:
Publius’ Story

Scripture Reading:  Acts 28:5-10

Key Verse: Acts 28:7

There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and for three days entertained us hospitably.

Acts 27 is where today’s story actually begins.  The Apostle Paul, along with 275 other people, was traveling on a ship.  A terrible storm came up and they were shipwrecked on a nearby island.  They ended up staying on this island for three months.  By God’s divine guidance and provision, Paul was introduced to the top official of that island.  His name was Publius.  He was the chief official that ran their local government.  Paul found out that Publius’ father was very sick, bed ridden.  Paul took that information and saw an opportunity to help.  Paul prayed for him and God healed Publius’ father.  The story does not tell us how many believed Paul’s teaching about Jesus and were saved, but we do know God provided three months of ministry to these lonely island people.

God cares so deeply about every single living soul.  Though the world had no clue or concern for these island people, God arranged an “evangelistic” campaign so they could hear about Jesus!  Paul listened to their stories, watched for opportunities to help, and shared the Gospel.

We may all run into a person today that seems so insignificant to the world around us, but we must trust that these “meetings” are divine appointments.  Let’s discover stories, listen carefully, and look for opportunities to help people know Jesus.

Father it is so easy to rush through my day.  Please keep me mindful of the divine appointments you may arrange for me.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
