To help others get to heaven, I am going to need to refocus on developing new friends outside the church.

Living in 3D:
Develop Friendships – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  Acts 2:38-45

Key Verse: Acts 2:46-47

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The next step in this month’s emphasis has been entitled: “Living in 3D.”  Three words that start with the letter D describe our work in evangelism.  If we are going to see others walk with us into heaven, we must Develop friendships, Discover stories, and Discern next steps.

The first area that we want to concentrate on is our friendships.  In general, friendships happen naturally.  It’s not typical that we walk around thinking about developing friendships.  As Christ’s followers, I believe this should be a focus in our lives.  For me it is easy to be satisfied with the friends I presently have.  The problem is most of my friends are already Christ followers.  If I am going to continually be used of God to help others get to heaven, I am going to need to refocus on developing new friends outside the church.

This is hard work because new friends outside the church don’t naturally fit into my world.  Friends outside the church live lifestyles that are uncomfortable!  They go to places for entertainment that I can’t go, so it takes real creativity to see these friendships grow.  Nevertheless, I am determined to figure this out.  I want a portion of my time and energy to be given to helping others know Jesus!

Father, please grant me your wisdom as I rub shoulders with lost people!  Help me to influence them toward your love.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
