Minding Your Math:
Life to the Full – Part 1

Scripture Reading:  John 10:7-15

Key Verse:  John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Jesus said that He came to this earth in the flesh for basically two purposes.  First: To give us eternal life.  His death on the cross paid for our sins and created the bridge needed for us to reconnect with our Father in heaven.  If you are a believer, His first purpose has been accomplished in you!

The second purpose was that those who would receive His eternal life would live, in this life, an abundant life.  God not only wants to grant us eternal life in heaven, He wants to grant us a “life to the full” now!  We know that our present existence is not heaven and we are going to have troubles, but even in this life there is a way to live that is full.  Unfortunately, there is an easier way (broader) that is surface, zoned out and lacking in real passion!

Life to the full means that we are constantly on the lookout for activities that enrich our lives.  Life is full of choices, so we must choose the best ones for our “one” life.  Someone has correctly said: The real enemy of “best” is “good”!  We, as Christ followers, try to stay away from obvious sins, but we often settle for “good” rather than choosing “best.”  Hours of TV rather than a walk with your spouse or friends might be one simple illustration of dozens of choices we make every day!

Father, grant me your spirit of discernment that I can have a life that is full and abundant.  I ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
