I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being

Today you and I will do a lot of self talk.  It’s those inner thoughts—inner conversations—that we have with ourselves.  Some of these conversations originate from positive experiences we have had, even from years ago.  Unfortunately, many of these inner conversations come from very negative past experiences.  We have all been wounded by these experiences in various degrees.

            I think most of us would agree the negative self talk far outweighs the positive. We really are our worst critics.  Maybe it was a perfectionist parent or some cruel “friends” on the playground, but these negative experiences burn a deep image of ourselves in our own psyche.  Far too many have had nightmare kinds of experiences, being physically or sexually abused; these days more kids than not feel abandoned as divorce splits our homes and one parent leaves.  Secretly, kids can grow up blaming themselves for not being good, so daddy or mommy would stay. 

            Yes, everyone has a wounded inner being.  Sin entered the human race through the fall of Adam and Eve, and Satan made sure of it!  We need healing, deep healing in our hearts.  The good news is: God wants to do that work.  The Apostle Paul prays for the work of God’s Spirit in our inner beings.  We are looking at a powerful prayer in Ephesians 3.  Not only do we need to pray it for ourselves, but people around us need us to pray it for them!

“Father, thank you for knowing where I really hurt.  Thank you for going deep within me.  Bring your strength to my weakest point.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
