The Bible tells all those who believe that we can live everyday with great hope!

Powerful Prayers
This Week: A Prayer for Assurance
Today: That We May Know – Part 2

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:15-19

Key Verse:  Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

As we continue our thoughts from yesterday, I want to focus on the word “know.”  It is used four times in this prayer of Paul’s in Ephesians 1.  The first know refers to our relationship with God Himself: “That we may know Him better.”  Whenever our heart’s prayer is to know God on a deeper level, we are seeking that which is in the will of God.  This is a great prayer to pray.  It will bless God and find His favor.  To pray to know God better will open doors throughout our day that provide insight into God’s character.  God wants to answer this prayer; we can have great assurance of this prayer being answered!

The second know is referencing the hope we have when we are walking with God.  The Bible tells all those who believe that we can live everyday with great hope!  We have hope when troubles come our way.  There are promises to match those troubles and we are not alone in dealing with them.  We have hope when we lose a loved one.  The Bible tells us not to mourn like those who have no hope!  There is coming a great reunion when we will see our loved ones again.  We’ll live forever with God and all God’s children.  We have hope for a new world to come.  Titus 2:13 says, “…we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…”  Yes, we can know hope—great hope that brings the assurance of better days ahead and a bright eternal future!  (More tomorrow.)

“Father, help me live with full assurance; help me to know you better.  Please help me to live with a deep sense of hope today!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
